The Cryptography Engineer will focus on all aspects of research, planning, design, implementation, administration, continuous improvement, and partner relationship management related to cryptographic capabilities and services required to support business processes and applications across the Clayco organization. The ultimate goal of this position is establishing effective, scalable, and sustainable cryptographic capabilities and services to mature Clayco’s Trust Model, authentication mechanisms, and encryption methodologies enabling compliancy with internal and external requirements as well as reduction of Risk to acceptable levels. This role will contribute the establishment and execution of Clayco’s cryptography strategy.

The Specifics of the Role:

  • Contribute to Clayco’s cryptography strategy as well as execution roadmap(s)
  • Establish, maintain, and document cryptographic Standards and Guidelines for cipher and hash algorithms and certificate protocols to align with all compliance requirements
  • Design, implement, deploy, and mature PKI Services to support Certificate-based authentication and trust mechanisms across Clayco’s Email infrastructure, Client Infrastructure, and Document Signing processes with current or net new solutions
  • Design, implement, deploy, and mature Key Management Services to support Key-based mechanisms across Clayco’s Cloud and On-Prem environments as well as API integrations with current or net new solutions
  • Administer, monitor, support, troubleshoot, and optimize Key Management Services, management services, and access methodologies across multiple environments, including key life-cycle management
  • Administer and support all Enterprise Encryption Services protecting Data at Rest, Data in Transit, and Transaction Data across all Clayco environments to include Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) encryption for Cloud storage areas
  • Support database protection functionalities including Native and Transparent Data Encryption as well as operating systems and file systems such as Windows, NFS, APFS, etc.
  • Assess Legal, Regulatory, and Client-directed Data protection and encryption requirements to ensure proper solutions are applied and maintained
  • Managing and collaborating with both internal and external hosted Certificate Authorities (CAs) and Registration Authorities including Managed PKI Services

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and EC-Council Certified Encryption Specialist (ECES) Certifications (Current status, or obtained within 9 months of assuming role)
  • 6-8+ years’ experience in Information Security roles responsible for implementation and administration of Data security, authentication mechanisms, and secure communications
  • 4-5+ years working specifically with PKI/Certificate Services, Digital Signatures, Encryption & Key Management
  • Experience both On-Prem and Cloud-based Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs), or other cryptographic hardware
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of FIPS 140-2 level 2+ certified Hardware Security Modules Standards and Key Management Systems
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of applicable protocols and Standards including AMCE, KMIP, SSL/TLS, SSH, CMP, CRL/OCSP, PKI and PKCS standards (PKCS #5, #7, #8, #10, #11, and #12)
  • Functional knowledge of certificate-based Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) technologies and integrations
  • Proficiency in necessary productivity tools (such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint) for analytics and presentations
  • Operate with strong integrity with the ability to handle projects of a sensitive and confidential nature
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to translate technical or abstract concepts into a narrative that is intuitive to clients.
  • Proven ability to present complex data in a visual format that is intuitive to clients.
  • Proven ability to lead small teams to deliver results in a timely and effective manner.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a self-directed manner.
