The Network Operations Center (NOC) Intern role provides essential support for the operations of the NOC itself while furthering the development of the Student’s knowledgebase and skillsets.
Responsibilities
The NOC is the first responders for all infrastructure or application outages. They provide Tier 1-2 Technical Support by utilizing primary monitoring tools to troubleshoot, resolve, and/or potentially escalate problems. Reported issues that they are unable to resolve without further collaboration get escalated to core IT teams and/or vendor support groups. Additionally, the NOC provides on-site and remote technical support for Humana’s nationwide infrastructure. In conjunction with monitoring the infrastructure and core applications, the team also implements maintenance, works on automating manual workload, and tackles assigned projects.
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in and pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree.
Interest in pursuing IT field as a career.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to commit to 30 hours/week minimum.
Preferred Qualifications
Have a strong academic history, with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA being desired.
Be actively involved on-campus and/or in the community.
Basic understanding of computing and general networking systems.
Understanding of Windows Server, Linux, VMware, or Cisco networking is a plus.
Knowledge of HP BSM, HP SiteScopes, HP Network Node Manager, SolarWinds Orion, Splunk, Dynatrace, ScienceLogic, Cisco Stealthwatch, or other various server and infrastructure monitoring tools is a plus.
