Network Operation Engineer

This is a professional-level position responsible for the collaborative design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of network infrastructure, network operations, and related hardware and technology solutions in use by all company locations across the United States and Canada. As an integral part of Information Technology group, this position provides efficient intermediate to advanced-level troubleshooting and problem resolution services in support of 24x7 operations.
With an emphasis on strong technical and analytical skills, candidates are expected to use professional oral and written communication to support both Technical Services Analysts and non-technical end users to provide support of the following technologies and functions:
  • Wireless LAN (WLAN) topology including standard design principles
  • Wireless WAN and IPSec design and implementation
  • Cisco ISR-class routers Catalyst switch configuration and troubleshooting
  • Cisco VoIP telephony solutions and ancillary systems including SIP operation
  • Cisco personal and collaborative video endpoints
  • Secondary support of Motorola/Zebra-branded mobile RF handheld and wearable terminals
  • Secondary support of 10ZiG-branded thin-client terminal workstations
  • Strong Microsoft Office application suite experience
  • System and process-documentation / knowledge base experience
  • Strong analytical skills including problem ownership, project execution, and root-cause analysis
  • Effective time-management skills and a proven ability to meet assigned project and task deadlines
  • Working knowledge within an IBM iSeries environment
  • Occasional travel to company locations in the US and Canada will be required and may include after-hours and weekend work to coincide with established maintenance windows
  • Participation as an escalated support resource supporting a rotating after-hours support schedule
  • Participation in department tasks, projects, training opportunities, and other initiatives
  • Strong team player, readily willing to help colleagues and business partners
  • Provide coaching and direction to junior analysts
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a technical analyst in a complex multi-location or campus environment
  • Experience establishing robust, resilient, and scalable network topologies
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP network systems including LAN and WAN design and implementation
  • Post-secondary degree in computer/networking systems or equivalent work experience
  • Cisco CCNA-level or equivalent proficiency certification
