Telecom Project Manager

This Project Manager will be responsible for managing telecom network services projects where they will be overseeing the implementation or upgrade of cisco routers/switches, microwaves, cabling, video/audio equipment, phone systems, fiber lines, etc. This person will be managing each site from initial planning through to implementation. This person will be working with carriers, ie, AT&T, Verizon, Comcast etc as needed for these different sites. Previous experience within the Utility industry is required.

-set up new telecom, Datacom, office trailer, regular office network, conf room, AV integration, video conf, work with local corp estate rep, under what is the sequence?
-Delivery of voip, phone system, MFD, network printing, enabling the trailer for open network
-coordination for clearance- network specialist, locals, safety inspector
-NERC understanding
-SCADA understanding
-Require PM to actively manage, engage, own every stage of network projects and drive all project related tasks to completion
-Partnering with Network team and work with cross-functional business units to understand project scope, requirement, timeline, and dependencies for each project flowing through the organization
-Demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence in Network and Data Center technologies including Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery
-Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity
-Responsible for leading one or more projects typically between $100,000 - $5,000,000
-Clearly defining and communicating roles, responsibilities and expectations for all members of the project team
-Obtaining and defining staffing requirements and forming project teams
-Independently planning all associated work to meet project goals
-Recording, tracking and communicating issues, risks, changes, and status reports within a standard tool
-Accurately and consistently forecasting project resource, material and contract costs within a standard tool(s)
-Monitoring critical project milestones, and identifying ways to resolve schedule issues
-Assessing project performance and implementing changes as necessary to ensure the projects remains within specified cost, schedule, scope and quality objectives
-Communicating status of all projects to stakeholders and management
-Developing and maintaining a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors and key clients
-Preparing all project documentation for closure, storage, and possible auditing activities, ensuring technical accuracy
-Coordinating any required contract work within defined policy
-Demonstrates a high level of expertise in a number of the following areas: testing, project management, related Lines of Business, development, SOX compliance, regulatory compliance, operational/disaster recovery, operations, maintenance, etc.
-Able to work on flexible schedule for clearances and maintenances that require off-hour support
-Conducting site visits as necessary
Minimum Requirements:
-Solid understanding of Telecom, Networking (WAN/LAN), TCP/IP, and Data Center technologies
-Advanced understanding of project management principles and methodologies
-Understanding of business, and IT strategies and objectives
-Workforce planning and resource management skills
-Ability to function and manage in a matrixed environment
-Excellent communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills
-Team player, flexible, energetic, diplomatic, strong leadership, analytical ability and judgment skills
-Proficiency in negotiation and risk management
-Skilled in using the following programs – HP Project and Portfolio Management Center (PPMC), IT Methodology, Microsoft Office Suite
-BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent experience
Preferred qualification:
-CCNA or equivalent Network certification
-Strong understanding of the utility business
-Deep understanding and strong experience of NERC/CIP, SOX and other standard process requirements
-Advanced degree is a plus
