The IT Project Manager is responsible for all IT projects internal and external, as well as, developing and leading a strategically oriented project team with the objective of prioritizing and optimizing the team performance in supporting of the IT strategy.
Responsibilities include the development of project proposals, planning, decision-making and project fiscal management.  Supervision is exercised over professional, technical and administrative personnel.
The IT Project Manager must ensure the high-quality delivery of program deliverables that meet the needs of stakeholders in collaboration with project team, implementation teams and organizational leadership. 
The IT Project Manager will be working on datacenter projects relating to facilities and Server Lifecycle Management (upgrades).  The PM will be working with the vendors and managing vendors to implement solutions on time, on schedule and within budget.
We are looking for a hands-on PM, who can drive projects to completion, manage a diverse team of technical engineers, facilities personnel and contractors.  Datacenter experience, facilities experience and server upgrade projects a MUST.
Lifecycle of hardware, technology refresh.  UNIX and Windows based systems.  Back office servers in the datacenter.  Client will be migrating IBM 570 servers to IBM 770 servers and applications.
Each project involves gathering requirements, estimating material and labor costs, building the team, generating required documentation and working through design to implementation, including problem resolution/remediation.
 
  • Upgrade and standardize Enterprise network core switches in four datacenters
  • Re-design and implement Enterprise network core inter datacenter communication
  • Upgrade and standardize the company Internet edge infrastructure (Routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers)
  • Research and migrate approximately 8000 internet firewall rules from legacy Cisco FWSM firewall to new Palo Alto Networks firewall for over 200 applications.
  • Install new Internet circuit to implement true Internet Carrier redundancy and resiliency
 
Experience:
  • 5+ years of project management experience managing large complex projects in the area of datacenter facilities and sever upgrades
  • Experience managing electrical facilities and vendors for datacenter projects
  • Experience managing IBM windows and Unix hardware server upgrades
  • Extensive experience in developing and execution of IT governance, project methodologies, procedures and processes
  • Proven ability to build motivated, collaborative and productive cross functional teams
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate verbally or in written form, with all levels of the organization, and able to influence a larger team to perform toward the same goal
  • Excellent organizational and time management skill
  • Highly analytical, and methodical, strong problem solving ability on complex subjects
Project Requirements:
  • Establish and maintain the project management guidelines
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Determine methodology used on each project, and approve project charter for implementation
  • Develop specifications according to standard templates
  • Be the liaison between the units, technology teams and support teams
  • Communicates key performance information to the senior management team
  • Track project budget, resources, revenue potential, expenses, and other associated key performance indicators
Professional Skills:
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing competing priorities, and building a team of professional who can complete tasks on time within a fast paced environment   
  • Working knowledge of technology, vendors, products, development and support alternatives
  • Proven business skills including financial analysis and budgeting
  • PMI/PMP certification, preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT process and infrastructure/data related projects
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with associates, counterparts and external customers.
